PUNCTURED VOIDS

Void is like a blank canvas. An empty canvas which can be silent & poised but also stare back at the creator with uncertainty. This universe, where we take shelter, eternally behaved like a blank canvas. The intelligent species of Homo-sapiens took charge of this resource and fulfil personal desires. A masterpiece eventually emerges from this blank space, through a series of deliberate strokes and thoughts.

The journey, from blank canvas to masterpiece, is one that designers/creators traverse every day. Their roadmap is as intricate as it is intriguing, filled with creative struggles, breathtaking insights, and the sheer joy of creating something meaningful out of nothingness.

A void is best defined when occupied by an object or a built form. The building block of architecture is space, often termed as a void. A void is not explicitly quantified. It is an intangible entity. Belonging to the architecture fraternity, it becomes our responsibility to provide solutions through manipulation of natural environment and the space it provides us with. We end up doing this by creating smaller units of this unquantifiable space into less abstract yet substantial pockets.

The presence of voids in a town or a city play a very crucial role. Voids or the public spaces are like a magnet in the city. It attracts people from diverse age groups and distinct social backgrounds and cultural realms to engage with the environment and feel harmonious. It is essential to protect the longevity of these voids. The responsibility lies in the hands of the modern day designers to carefully and sensitively curate spaces they take charge of.
